The Mentawais are a consistent year-round destination. You'll be staying in the Northern Mentawais, right in front of two epic waves: Ebay (a fun left-hander that goes from barreling at mid tide to rippable at high tide) and Pitstops (a rippable right hander with the occasional barrel perfect for all levels).

A short boat drive away, you'll find some of the most incredible waves in the whole world: Bankvaults, Rifles, Kandui and many secret surf spots we won't even mention.

When to go:
Peak Season (June to September)
Large and consistent swells turn on some of the best waves in the area, with wave height hitting sometimes double overhead+. If you're looking to score the barrel of your life, this is the time to come to Indonesia. If you are an intermediate surfer, don't worry: sheltered surf spots abound and while all the pros are looking for solid surf you will be enjoying fun conditions without too much crowds.

Shoulder Season (March and April, October and November)
Depending on the forecast you can find everything from solid swell to small and fun surf days. Crowds are lower than peak season and conditions are epic for both the intermediate surfer and the advanced looking to score with less people in the line-up.

Low Season (December to February)
Yes there are less solid swells and you will encounter more rain, but you'll still be able to surf smaller conditions and with less surfers in the line-up. Recommended to intermediate surfers looking for easier conditions.

Payment

You can book this surf trip by paying 50% (non-refundable deposit) of the total amount per person. Deposit should be paid within 3 days of your confirmation.
The remaining amount must be paid no later than 60 days before departure.
Otherwise, the reservation will be considered void.If you are booking a trip starting in less than 60 days, the payment of the full amount is required.

Booking

A booking is accepted and becomes confirmed upon us receiving the full payment. It is at this point that a contract between us and the client comes into existence. Before your booking is confirmed, we reserve the right to decline any booking at our discretion, and upon doing so we shall be liable to refund any deposited money.

Cancellation

All booking payments for this surf trip package are non-refundable. If a trip is cancelled for reasons outside of our control, for example, due to the occurrence of a natural disaster, an act of terrorism, civil unrest, an act of fraud, or any other act or occurrence causing legal incapacity from us to deliver on our part, then we will endeavour to reschedule your booking to such time that we can deliver, and the Client accepts this potential disruption and shall not hold us liable in any way.

In extreme circumstances where The Surf Tribe may ultimately be unable to deliver its services, then the client accepts this risk and shall not be entitled to seek compensation in such a situation occurring.

No refunds shall be payable if you fail to arrive at the transport link at the agreed time and date provided, or if you voluntarily leave a trip for any reason after the trip has begun or if you cannot fulfill your planned trip and/or activities due to injury or illness. No refunds will be payable for any accommodation, transport, activity, meals or services not utilized.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all visitors to cover unforeseeable circumstances such as injury, illness, family emergency, flight cancellations, etc.

Rescheduling
‍
If you wish to reschedule you must contact us as soon as possible. A request to reschedule your booking must be made in writing with at least 90 days minimum notice before commencement by way of email, and no rescheduling fee shall apply.

If a request is made to reschedule with less than 90 days before commencement, but with a minimum of 60 days’ notice by way of email, a rescheduling fee equal to 25% of the paid deposit shall apply.
If a request is made to reschedule less than 60 days before commencement, but with a minimum of 45 days’ notice by way of email, a rescheduling fee equal to 50% of the paid deposit shall apply. Rescheduling is not possible less than 45 days before commencement.
